Site Information :: Staff Applications

About Us FAQ / Help Contributors Affiliates Copyright

Becoming a staff member can be a very rewarding job here. However, it can be time-consuming so many prefer becoming a recognised contributor instead. We ask that all our staff members are consistently reliable, quite knowledgeable, and have good writing skills. The following roles are available:

  • Reviewer - Staff writers are expected to review a soundtrack every few weeks. The quality of writing of reviews submitted should be good and the level of detail appropriate. We're also very interested in event reports and concert reviews if you can provide them. It is expected you contributed more regularly than non-staff featured reviewers.
  • News Reporter - It is expected reporters make articles shortly after news emerges. They are welcome to be more elaborate than our standard informative approach and include images in articles. As we use an in-built system to report news, little technical knowlege is required.
  • Japanese-English Translator - Proficiency in Japanese and English is required. Translators may be asked to translate track listings, lyrics, liner notes, and composer information on a regular basis or conduct interviews. Those looking to assist translation in a non-staff role are very welcome to.

To apply for staff, simply email chris [at] squareenixmusic.com explaining what role you'd like to adopt and your capabilities. You will be given a response shortly. It is usual procedure for prospective staff members to have a two month trial before becoming an official staff member. During this time, you will receive official contributor recognition.
