Review

You know, it's been 15 years since Uematsu's first solo album, Phantasmagoria, and I rather enjoyed it. Fortunately, he is producing his second solo album this year, entitled 10 Stories. Hints so far are that the album will be fun and varied one dedicated to telling some children's stories.

Uematsu's first single from the upcoming album is entitled "Here Comes Conga Boy" and was released through iTunes in May 2009. It differs greatly from his previous solo albums and reminds me a bit of LocoRoco. It's a very playful song, full of female vocalists in a variety of styles, under the collective "Nobiyo and the Dog Ears".

The music behind it is quite interesting too! Throughout, you'll hear playful piano and accordion sections with some interesting percussion use (like that wasn't obvious!). There is even a slow ballad section that focuses on strings, harp, and chimes with some beautiful vocal harmonies. It's an interesting start. I wonder what's in store for the next single, but you can be sure I'll be there to cover it!

Overall Score: 8/10
