Biography

I was born in Jerez de la Frontera, a moderately large Andalusian town, famous for its wine (sherry) and horses. My earliest hobbies were reading and drawing, and I had quit an interest in nature, but I also got engaged in video games through a ZX Spectrum microcomputer that we got around 1984 or so. Curiously, now that I think it retrospectively, video gaming was what set me for my professional path, as I learned about Telecommunication Engineering by reading interviews with Spanish game developers of the time, most of which had a background on such studies. However I was quite disinterested in music until I was 13 or so, and as such, the only melodies I used to listen to were the ones from the Spectrum games, so actually it could be said that my earliest musical interests were VGM, in a roundabout way. That changed shortly as I started to listen to the radio and started learning to play guitar. And especially since I got into classic rock through the caring hand of the Beatles discography, music became an obsession to me, the interest to which I have devoted more time and energy throughout my life.

As I picked up gaming again some years later on the PC and later the Playstation, I started to pay attention to the music. I liked how the music in LucasArts adventure games set the mood for the games, and frequently I found myself humming tunes from the Gabriel Knight games, but the first time I soaked in the music of a game was with Yoko Shimomura's work in Kingdom Hearts, which was my entry to the world of Square Enix RPG's and their music. I am now a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy scores, and I also like Sakimoto's work in the Ivalice games a lot. Currently I'm still getting into other composers.

As for my academic and professional path, it has taken me to live in such wonderful cities as Valencia, where I got my engineering degree, and Barcelona, the first place I worked in. After a several year stay in the eastern city of Castellón, I currently got back to Andalusia and I'm working in Sevilla at the present time.
