Basiscape 2005 - Composer

Brief Profile

Hard-working and eccentric, Kimihiro Abe decided to join the video game music production company Basiscape in 2005 after graduating from a contemporary composition course at the Tokyo College of Music. He has demonstrated his fondness for unsynchronised rhythms and rich timbres with remixes for Street Fighter II, Mushihimesama, Tetris, and Darius II. Other early works included co-compositions of the hard rock scores for the fighting games Zoids: Full Metal Crash and Battle Stadium D.O.N.

Abe has been assigned to diverse tasks at Basiscape. For Final Fantasy XII, Abe helped to master its official soundtrack release, create its piano sheet music arrangements, and minimally arrange its pieces for the DS' Revenant Wings. He has orchestrated for Romeo X Juliet, arranged Eminence's Destiny: Dreamer's Alliance, and ported the mobile phone's After Burner II. He has also made minor contributions to Mushihimesama Futari, Grim Grimoire, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.

In recent years, Abe has become a well-established composer at Basiscape. In 2007, he produced eight dramatic orchestral themes for Odin Sphere, contributed to the whimsical percussive score to Deltora Quest: The Seven Jewels, and warmly blended orchestral and synthetic sounds for the Opoona. He further demonstrated his flexibility by creating rich Celtic pieces on Elminage, atmospheric science-fiction material, Coded Soul, and some light sentimental compositions on L no Kisetsu 2.
