Old-school rocker and bassist Ryuji Sasai contributed to a variety of game scores over a ten year period while working with the band ACTION. Having initially worked for Crystal Software with Chihiro Fujioka, he contributed the scores to the MSX's Xak: The Art of Visual Stage and its sequel before joining Square to co-compose Final Fantasy Legend III in 1991.

Sasai later contributed to 1992's Final Fantasy Mystic Quest with Yasuhiro Kawakami and produced his first solo effort in 1996 with the Rudra no Hihou, a classic Super Nintendo soundtrack. After an experimental contribution to Tobal No. 1, Sasai bowed out of Square on a high with the fusion score to Bushido Blade 2 in 1998. He currently performs with Queen Mania, a tribute band.
