Brief Profile
Kenji Ito joined Square in 1990 and made a significant impression with his scores to the Game Boy's Final Fantasy Legend II (aka SaGa 2) and Final Fantasy Adventure (aka Seiken Densetsu). His Super Nintendo years were dominated by the Romancing SaGa trilogy, where he created melodic and individually character solo scores for each later moulded into arranged albums.
During the PlayStation era, Ito worked on less significant projects, burdened with Chocobo titles and two commercial flops, though still scored SaGa Frontier. In 2001, he decided to leave Square to become a freelancer and initially worked on Culdcept II, handling all aspects of sound production, as well as Cross Gate's extensions and Shadow Hearts Covanent.
Ito has chiefly remained a three franchise composer composer. After arranging the remake Sword of Mana, he produced an ambitious and well-received score for Romancing Saga Minstrel Song and the diverse Culdcept Saga. He has also worked on Children of Mana, Dawn of Mana, Concerto Gate, and, more recently, Lux-Pain and his first anime project.
