15 May 2009 - 20 CD Anniversary Box Set for SaGa Series Square Enix will commemorate 20 years of the SaGa series with a limited edition box set. The SaGa Series 20th Anniversary Original Soundtrack Premium Box will feature all 500 pieces of music from the series in an elegantly presented package. The package will feature 20 CDs, a DVD featuring composer interviews, and special illustrations by Tomomi Kobayashi. It will be published under the catalog number SQEX-10145/65 by the Square Enix record label on August 29, 2009. The box will include the soundtracks for the following titles: Game Boy SaGa Collection - Disc 01: Makaitoushi SaGa - From All Sounds of SaGa (Music by Nobuo Uematsu) - Disc 02: SaGa 2 Hihoudensetsu - Half Disc from All Sounds of SaGa (Music by Nobuo Uematsu, Kenji Ito) - Disc 03: Jikuuno Hasha SaGa 3 - One Disc from All Sounds of SaGa (Music by Ryuji Sasai, Chihiro Fujioka) Super Nintendo SaGa Collection - Disc 04: Romancing SaGa - One Disc from Romancing SaGa Original Sound Version (Music by Kenji Ito) - Disc 05: Romancing SaGa 2 - One Disc from Romancing SaGa 2 Original Sound Version (Music by Kenji Ito) - Discs 06-08: Romancing SaGa 3 - Three Discs from Romancing SaGa 3 Original Sound Version (Music by Kenji Ito) PlayStation SaGa Collection - Discs 09-11: SaGa Frontier - Three Discs from SaGa Frontier Original Soundtrack (Music by Kenji Ito) - Discs 12-14: SaGa Frontier II - Three Discs from SaGa Frontier II Original Soundtrack (Music by Masashi Hamauzu) PlayStation 2 SaGa Collection - Discs 15-16: Unlimited SaGa - Two Discs from Unlimited SaGa Original Soundtrack (Music by Masashi Hamauzu) - Discs 17-20: Romancing SaGa - Four Discs from Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Original Soundtrack (Music by Kenji Ito, Tsuyoshi Sekito) Square Enix have previously published box sets for Final Fantasy XI and Kingdom Hearts. However, a box this huge is unprecedented for them and, in fact, game music in general. Square Enix are about to publish probably the biggest box set in the history of game music. Given its size, it will carry the substantial pricetag of 21,000 yen (currently 218 US dollars).
