12 Mar 2008 - Norihiko Hibino Confirmed for Metal Gear Solid 4 in New Interview
Jayson Napolitano and I have interviewed Norihiko Hibino at Music4Games here. An interesting read, the interview provides insight on his jazz background, Konami roles, music production company GEM Impact, band The Outer Rim, and use of technology and vocals.
He also provides confirmation of several new projects he is involved in. After much speculation, we finally have confirmation that he and his employees have been extensively involved in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, also composed by Harry Gregson-Williams and Nobuko Tada. He also mentions his roles in the Studio Gonzo anime Blassreiter, the remix albums for Etrian Odyssey 2 and No More Heroes, and an Xbox Live title, likely the previously announced Commando 3. More mysteriously, he is also involved in a Korean-developed title (Dragon Ball Online?), a German-developed PSP and Wii title, Namco's Idolm@ster series, and the music for a Pachinko game. The interview confirms what I realized after thoroughly researching him for his Square Enix Music Online Biography: Norihiko Hibino is an extremely successful freelancer, capable of balancing a variety of music-related activities at GEM Impact with other activities, such as performing with his band, international networking, and running a jazz bar. The interview provides a fine insight into one of the industry's biggest stars.
