This is most likely due to the fact that Hamauzu / Yamazaki thought that the pieces weren't good enough / worth placing on the original release. This is probably mixed with budget reasons too.

Your welcome Shylph

Eriol33, Harry; The tracks are good, but I think it would be down to budget - other wise you would think Dirge of Cerberus OST would be three discs instead of two. I wouldn't like to think the composers would doubt the quality of there work.

Though come to think of it, most of these tracks are quite ambient...so would probably be classed as filler tracks if they were included on the OST

Some songs that I love but are not included in the OST is here! Cool! I love Wild Pack especially

But yes, it's a lot more ambient (although some other tracks are already quite ambient, too) so it is reasonable not to put them into the OST.

Some of the tunes were written after the release of the game, too. I guess another reason comes from Crown Record, maybe they were not interested to do a 3-disc soundtrack.

It's awesome that we have MP3s of this album so soon! Thank you so much, RyuFAN. How are you able to do this?

This album is interesting and high-quality, despite its ambient emphasis. Certainly a worthy bonus to the OST.

Ryo Yamazaki's compositions are really good and it's great to see him at last co-compose with Hamauzu. I wonder if he'll contribute anything special to FFXIII?

Kuja or anyone else, do you know any more about what tracks were added to the English version of the game?

Dave, maybe Totz will do one when he has the time. He did a great analysis of the first OST after all.

I managed to purchase an itunes voucher worth 2500 yen. The album on itunes was 1500...I burned the original itunes files to cd, then ripped then in EAC using Lame. I did the same thing to get the Children of Mana Original Soundtrack and the Best of Final Fantasy XII OST

Thanks, Chris! I know many will appreciate the alternate.

And in case you may not have seen my thoughts over at SoundtrackCentral or GamingForce...

I finally managed to snag it last night, but BOY did SendSpace make it difficult for me...
This morning I was listening to it, and I'm quite pleased. I can understand why many of these tracks were overlooked in favor of what ended up on the OST, but it's still a joy to have them all!

Props also must go to Ryo Yamazaki...not only for stellar synth work (as always!), but for pulling the wool over our eyes.

About a year ago, when media for DoC was scarce, video clips of the Beta version ended up online. That was the first many of us had heard in-game music at all. My first impression was, "Ooh...Hamauzu is taking a Sakimoto route here. Nice!"

As it turns out...that music was "Fierce Battle"...by Yamazaki. OOPS!

But I have to say...THAT is certainly one of the tracks I was looking for, and I was quite disappointed when it wasn't released the first time around. But now we know why.

I'll need to listen to this a little more before I post more, but I'm quite delighted. Thanks to RyuFAN and SEM for providing this!

Oh...there is one more thing. Does anyone else get the feeling that the last two tracks are "table scraps"? It sounds as if he strung many of the cinematic jingles together...

I don't really know, but I'm surprised this soundtrack says "multiplayer mode" since many of its tracks can be heard within the game itself, especially some impressive cut-scenes ("Immaculate Frenzy"!!!) and memorable areas ("Wild Pack"! "Train Graveyard"!! "Attack On Midgar"!!!)... plus the tutorial theme, of course. Well, the multiplayer mode featured mostly levels taken from the main scenario, so that's why...

Same here. Yamazaki's contribution is very nice.

I finished the game two days ago and was quite impressed by it. After everything I read about it, I was pessimistic when I started to play. But in fact, it is nice to play to. It is quite surprising to fight with Gackt's "LONGING" as BGM. And I never thought "Chaotic End" could be a final battle theme, this is brilliant!

I'm not really sure about Chaotic End. The battle was too intense.

As squaretex mentionned, "Flicker" is the title theme, but once it ends, "Calm Before the Storm" begins instead.

Glad the rip proved helpful. It sounds like it took some doing to be able to share MP3s and I'm really impressed by everything you did, RyuFAN.

I guess with the two last tracks, it's very likely the soundtracks features all previously unreleased themes. As I'm a completist, that's awesome.

I'm amazed that Chaotic End and Longing were both used as battle music. Were there any other quirks akin to this? You know, totally unexpected uses of certain music...

I think the soundtrack's name was partly to make it more appealing. Saying 'unreleased tracks' makes it sound like a 'worst of' collection.

I've done this before, so I wasn't as difficult as before. I'm just glad to have been able to get the files in the first place - I wouldn't have known about it if I had not have read about it in this site's news page

So, thanks to you guys as well

WHA! Chaotic End is the final boss theme -listens to it-
...well, all I can say is "The Immaculate" was just about believable if that had had been the final boss track...Chaotic end is a bit of a dissapointment, even though it's on of the Orchestra tracks, It just doesn't feel like a final boss theme

FFX's Decisive Battle had the same effect on me, at first I didn't like it...guess it's another track that I need to grow to love

It sounds perfect for the final battle to me. I don't like the part when there's only some percussion and a trumpet ostinato, but the rest is pure bliss. Instead of letting the piano overshadow the rest of the orchestra, it sort of goes with it.

I checked this out and in fact "Chaotic End" is entirely played during the final battle, even the last seconds. The first seconds are played during the short scene before the battle, but there is no load screen between this and the real gameplay. As a final battle theme, "Chaotic End" is very impressive because it brings a... chaotic feeling.

"Terminus" and "Quickening" also serve as battle themes. At first it seems surprising, but in fact when you see what the landscape of these battles looks like... It is simply perfect.

Are the final seconds of Chaotic End used during the battle or after the battle? I though it looped at 2:45.
Death and Rebirth also sounds really good in the cutscene that takes place in that landscape.

They are played during. There is no music when the final boss collapses. In the cut-scene after that, the music is "Redeem the World", then "REDEMPTION" for the credits, and finally "Hope of the Future" for the epilogue.

Actually, it is better to say "boss battle themes" since Dirge of Cerberus is not a normal RPG. All "Fight Tunes", "Quickening" and "Chaotic End" are boss themes. In fact "Terminus" is not really a battle theme, you have several enemies on the battlefield, but it is just before the final battles.

Did you listen to the Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy VII Original Soundtrack? That's considerable more melodic and memorable than this one, though remains pretty subtle and inaccessible nonetheless. You probably still won't like it (quite a lot of people don't) but it's a better reflection of Masashi Hamauzu than this one.

For those of you who have the in_cube plugin for WinAmp, I have a treat for you...

Here are ADX streaming files of all the loopable tracks in the Multiplayer sound collection. At least I hope I got 'em all.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/n4cidj

Enjoy!

p.s. I doubt that "Song of the Gathered" was supposed to be looped, but I decided to take a crack at it.

Sorry to double-post, but I thought y'all might want to know about this.

I did the looping on the DoC OST disc 2 tracks, and hope to put them up tonight. When I do, I'll offer some thoughts on it then.

In the meantime, I have a puzzler for you...

If the OST and Multiplayer tracks had been all released together, in what order could the tracks have gone? The reason I'm asking is because I plan on making a nice custom edition of the DoC music for myself, all integrated and looped. I'm trying to decide how I want it to go. (Of course, not having finished the game yet makes it difficult.) I expect it'll be 4 discs long.

Any thoughts?
