Best FF Piano Collection?

Yea, basically everyone summed up my thoughts nicely. ^^

My personal favorite is probably between FFVIII and FFX-2. I like the melodies on VIII the most, but some of the arrangements on X-2 (most notably Eternity) just blow me away! So you can't go wrong with either. =)

Also, VI, IX, and X would make perfectly good choices. VII is ok, but IV and V are not very good.

Best FF Piano Collection?

I'd probably say Final Fantasy X, because the arrangements are dazzling, inventive, complex, and have Hamauzu's "stamp" all over them. FFX-2's arrangements were good, but I would never rate it over FFX's because of the fact that FFX's had more personality--Hamauzu's true voice. However, knowing that not everybody likes Hamauzu's work as much as me, I would say, for nostalgia's sake, Final Fantasy VIII, although the arrangements are rather shallow at times. For the best of both worlds, personality, complexity, and nostalgia, go with Final Fantasy IX Piano Collections.

I'd stay as far away from FFIV, FFV, and FFVII's as possible (FFVII had VERY FEW arrangements that interested me. The rest were just--blegh!).

Add another vote for Bach. Infectious melodies, phenomenal counterpoint, exciting rhythms, dancability, and a knowledge (sorely lacking in the romantic period) of when to shut up.

After that, probably Wagner and Brahms. Both of whom I would probably put as my number one if there works weren't so dreadfully long.

Edit: Forgot a biggie in Shostakovich.

I really, really, really disliked going to this movie. Quoted from my Facebook rant about the film . . .

You know what I did when I wasn't watching The Office this weekend? I was watching Quantum of Solace. And it sucked. Never before in my life has a James Bond movie bored me. It may not have satisfied me, and it may have been kitsch, but I never yawned. I knew the movie was going to suck the moment I saw the movie poster with Bond proudly displaying his assault rifle, but I digress.

Granted, I was in a really crummy mood when I went to see the film, so if I didn't somehow get laid simply by watching the film, I was going to be disappointed, but still. I go to see a James Bond movie because I want to see him flirt with everything. Everything. Meaning the girls, the gadgets (of which there were none!), the villains, and most importantly himself. Instead I get a pretty bland action flick, complete with the shitty modern ten cuts a second and "hey a chase scene, what do the people want to see? the car's license plate!" shooting style. Not only that, but it tries (in very much vain) to actually move me. Yeah. Even if it were the best written movie of all time, which it certainly was not, the frame of mind I get into when watching a Bond movie means it ain't gonna happen no matter how hard you try. Casino Royale was a great example of how to make a more serious Bond movie. Quantum of Solace is a great example of the level of incompetence that makes me believe you deserve to be my sex slave.

I'd go more along [url=http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Preludes-Nocturnes-Waltzes-Schirmers/dp/0634099205/ref=pd_sim_b_4]these lines myself, but as far as the FFPCs are concerned, I'm in agreement with Shroud. VIII has my favorite themes in the series, and they're presented in a way that's true to the originals without sounding forced. "Silence And Motion" and "Blue Fields", two of the more bashed pieces of the FFVIII soundtrack, get arranged really well. As far as the Xes go, I more or less enjoyed them both. If you like Hamauzu, FFXPC is an album you should check out anyway, and X-2 was pretty hit and miss for me, though there were some great arrangements on there. X-2's PC, much like the OST, has a much more poppy approach.
