Two more of Uematsu's gems are up tonight. Which one are you going to pick? Vote here (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/uematsu.php).

Wowowowowow no contest. Gilgamesh is a masterpiece of battle themeage. My favorite Final Fantasy battle theme, no less! It's epic, hilarious, and full of... well, that musical stuff I like.

Landslide with good reason! That would be Gilgamesh then.

Maybe Gilgamesh will take it all home. D:

"Fighting", you were a solid thing to have around, but you're out now. "Gilgamesh" has you outclassed here, mainly in terms of personality.

Whammy!

Vote for Gilgs.

Gilgamesh is getting old for me. I don't know, it must've been FFXII's version. I'm just sick and tired of the melody. ;_;

So I go with "Fighting" here.

Gilgamesh! We all know why. It's catchy and fun, and it even got a pretty good orchestrated arrangment of it done. Can you say that "Fighting?"

"Battle With Gilgamesh"! Going once, going twice... Sold for...

Well whatever it wins by.

Battle with gilgamesh. fighting is good but can't stand a chance against gilgamesh now if it was still more fighting then we have more of a chance

Gilgamesh's opening sets it up to be a great battle tune, but I'm always disappointed when the "catchy and fun" melody comes in. It's never satisfied me.

So my vote goes to "Fighting" this round.

Gil-ga-mesh! Gil-ga-mesh! *continues to chant*

Sadly, my FFVII fandom can't quite cut it here. Gilgamesh gets my vote this round!

I like Fighting, and I went into this thinking, "wow, this is gonna be tough," but then I got unstupid.

Gilgamesh gooo~!

I'm voting for Gilgamesh, too. Fighting just doesn't measure up.

I don't really understand how, in both this pairing and the previous one, a theme was really far in front at first and then the other theme began to take over. I find it suspicious personally, but maybe it's just a strange trend in visitors.

Anyway, I'm going with the bandwagon here. "Fighting" did an awesome job sustaining game use over sooooooooo many battles, but Gilg is the real classic.

I thought it seemed a little suspicious as well.. Hopefully I won't be as disappointed this time..

Don

Yeah, I've already been disappointed once this round. I don't want to die anymore inside.

Jared

Yea, it is rather strange.

And 'The Extreme' lost. I'll be sad over that for ages. :(

But yea, totally Gilgamesh.

I'll go with Fighting. While it can get nerve-wrecking after a while, there's a part in it (near 0:52, the "top" of the song) that I really like. So that's enough to catapult it above Gilgamesh for me. :) Actually, I dislike the piano version of Fighting because it lacks this part, and only rises, and rises and doesn't "top", instead dribbling around. :P

Oh and I don't find anything suspicious here. More people vote than post here in the forum, so maybe the Fighting fans are keeping a low profile. :) I'm the first who posted anything anti-Gilgamesh, right?

As a fellow fan of 'Fighting' I appreciate that sentiment and I love the idea there are a lot of hidden fans of Fighting out their but the vote switch is just seems very suspicious. And it looks like it might be immaterial anyway because Gilgamesh has pulled ahead.

I didn't know we had this many visitors who participated, period. <_<!

Wow, Fighting is really catching up with Gilgamesh.

Dave, don't forget to check the IP's.

The hell? Now Fighting has a 5-vote lead.

TheShroud13

Dave, you need to start watching the vote curve and terminate the voting at convenient times :p

Dark Cloud
09-01-2006, 02:07 AM
Yeah, Shroud is right. This could have already been over. If you can't do the end votes, tell someone else too.

Nathan Black
09-01-2006, 02:10 AM
67 votes.

36 are for Fighting.

Right, that's real likely.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but this has not been a ridiculously active contest until some strangely underdog (read: inferior) songs have come up against heavy hitters.

And then the heavy hitters get hammered.

Something's rotten in the state of Denmark, and it reeks of h4x0r.

TheShroud13
09-01-2006, 02:12 AM
Well you have to keep in mind that this has been open a while longer than most rounds have been, so it's possible we've gotten more votes because of that. It's still kinda suspicious, but still.

DC, I was more being tongue-in-cheek with Dave, saying that I'd want him to close the polls whenever a track I wanted to win was leading ;)

McFate

You guys should know that the problem with democracy is that "inferior" people/songs/thoughts can overturn "superior" ones. Why does everyone think that Fighting can only win through fraud???

That undermines the whole point of the contest. If Fighting wins with different IPs, as in no single person voting twice, then you have accept the outcome. It's childish to shout 'cheater!' everytime your theme doesn't win.

But if there is something hacking the system, or votes are being "bought" then you have to face the weakness of democracy and Internet voting. ;)

There's a bridge here in Hungary, that has a naming contest going on now. Guess who is leading? Stephen Colbert, the American comedian, who asked all of his fans to vote for him. So, about 17 000 000 votes came from the US to name our bridge here in Hungary. And there are only 15 000 000 Hungarian people in the entire world! 10 000 000 living in Hungary! Is kind of sucky, what people would do for a laugh...

Sorry for the rant. But I really hate this 'cheater, cheater, cheater' chant.

Brittany
09-01-2006, 05:51 AM
I may be wrong, but it seems like mostly everyone is wondering why there is a sudden jump in votes for one song, not necessarily saying Fighting has no chance of winning unless people cheated.

Don
09-01-2006, 06:54 AM
If Gilgamesh is vanquished, so too shall I.

Dark Cloud
09-01-2006, 11:34 AM
It's not the point that "Fighting" might win (personally, I don't care which theme wins, I like both), but it's the thought that it might win because the poll was open longer than the others. That's what we're trying to say.

Dave

Battle With Gilgamesh (FFV) 51.35 % (38)
Fighting (FFVII) 48.65 % (36)

Close.

So Gilgamesh won beacuse of the extra time. I would be bitter except I'm pretty sure that someone tried to cheated for 'Fighting'.

"Fighting" benefited from the extra time as well.
