Round 3, Pairing 1: "The Aria (FFVI)" vs. "You're Not Alone (FFIX)"

At this point, a song I absolutely hate could have shown up, and I still would have voted against "The Aria". I've never cared for it melodically, and since melody is about all it has, I can't say I like it. Live or otherwise, "The Aria" doesn't work it for me.

"You're Not Alone" has some cheese factor going on, but it's a lot more pleasant and emotion inspiring to me than the former track. Vote here.

Technology differences aside, "Aria" is a piece that has grown on me. Even with that said I'm suprised it made it this far! I find it too simple to be in round 3. So its obviouse where my vote is going here.

I never really liked the Aria, and You're Not Alone is pretty sweet, so this is a pretty easy decision for me.

By the way, Dave, could you post a list of the themes that have made it to this round?

It's still going to take something much better than Aria di Mezzo Carettere. Sort of charming, not by itself a better track than You're Not Alone! (not that I've heard a better arranged version.)

You're Not Alone gets my vote. Despite liking the Aria, I don't think it has the gumption to last much longer. Let's get rid of it now.

You're Not Alone is simple, but Aria is far simpler. It has a lot of potential, as shown in some of it's arrangements, but the original just can't compete here.
