Just one more pairing in round two after this one, so don't forget to comment, like you all seemed to do with the last one. ;) Vote here (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/uematsu.php).

Both are my all-time favorites, it'll be sad to see either one of them go.

I won't be seeing You're Not Alone! go until the semifinals. I love everything about it. Such power, emotion... absolutely fits the setting, as well.

Premonition's nice, but nah.

I'm sooooo sorry Premonition but . . . . I can't vote for you. You know it's not your fault. From the moment I heard you on the OST, I fell in love with your wicked meter, your crazy percussion, the way you transformed the Sorceress's theme into a wild battle dance. And I still love you, I really do. But . . . how do I say this . . . there's something about You're Not Alone that I can't stop thinking about. And I'm sorry, but it's too much to hold back anymore. When the guitars and synth ostinato come in . . . I just can't say "NO" to that, don't you understand? I love you, Premonition, but I have to let you go.

Goodbye . . .

I'm gonna have to go with Premonition on this one. With splatterings of Succession of Witches and Liberi Fatali, who could ask for more. The percussion and melody made this one of my most enjoyable battles and I feel that Uematsu was at his best during the Final Fantasy VIII final boss series. As much as I love "You're Not Alone" it just doesn't hold ground to Premonition.

I hate you, Dave. I truly truly hate you. What kind of pairing is this? :(

The very randomness of the pairings means that inevitably there will be plenty of rounds like this...especially as we move on. It breaks your heart, doesn't it?

You're Not Alone(!) wins out for me. It's just a classic. The setting, the wonderful synth bassline and semi-tacky electric guitar sound...it all comes together just right.
But it's sooo hard - the intro to Premonition is some of Uematsu's finest orchestral-esque work. However, once it goes into that staple of FFVIII battle themes, the 6/4 metre, it does not hold my attention like You're Not Alone.

I never really felt the "Premonition" love. To me, it's a superficial reinterpretation of the sorceress' theme, that never really takes me anywhere special.

"You're Not Alone" is a powerful emotional piece with a killer melody, and while it occasionally drifts a bit too close to pop for me, the pure honesty of the piece overpowers all problems I have with it. Vote here!

Sigh, this is another battle theme I want to go through, but I'm sceptical. I'll go with Premonition. This is one of His greatest battle themes. ;)

Not Alone is another great track. But one has to choose!

Evil Pairing! :(

On one hand we have one of FFVIII's many excellent battle themes which mixes alot of the game's themes. And I have to say the Liberi Fatali notes (A, A, G, A, A#, A#, G, A, A#, C, A#, A, A#, G, A) really mean alot to me since ever time I play the piano I end up moving into that movement.

On the other hand is one of FFIX's most powerful pieces.

>_<

......

You're Not Alone it is....

gotta go with Not Alone.

Premonition is overshadowed by too many other battle themes in the series, whereas Not Alone stands perfectly as it's own masterpiece. Love it, absolutely love it.

So, the results are in:

You're Not Alone (FFIX) 83.33 % (20)
Premonition (FFVIII) 16.67 % (4)

A sudden decrease in voters? :(

Aww, I just missed it... Oh well, I would have most likely voted for You're Not Alone anyway. :)

Funny how nearly everyone who posted was torn between the two, yet Premonition got absolutely slaughtered . . .

That would be because the majority of the people who vote, don't post. :(
