Round 2, Pairing 30: "Searching for Friends (FFVI)" vs. "Underwater Temple (FFI PSX)"

Well, there are only a few themes left in round two, so soon we will be making some head way! Today's themes are both originally from old consoles, although "Underwater Temple" is actually a remixed version found on the PSX Origins release of the game. It would take a hell of a theme to make me vote against "Searching for Friends"...

And "Underwater Temple" is not that theme. I like the ostinato, I just don't like the melody a whole lot.

I went with Underwater Temple. It has a nice catch to it. Searching for Friends is good, but I decided to mix things up a bit. Doesn't matter who wins to me, this round didn't have any particular poignantheartfelt tracks for me.

"Searching for Friends". So melancholy, yet so hopeful. I think it's a beautiful theme. Fantastic bloomin' bass line as well.

Searching for Friends - was pleasantly surprised by it, actually. I'll go with this one. The Temple is ok as well, but Friends has just a little more zest to it! :P

I will agree with the majority of comments here. Searching for Friends is a really good song.. and I never cared much for Underwater Temple. It starts out well, but does not develop enough into something really great or memorable.

Probably my favorite thing about this track and what I always wait for is the weird clicking in the background. I can't explain it. But yeah, the melody's beautiful too, and the bass just flows. Like buttah. ...melted buttah.
