Round 2, Pairing 24: "Mystery Train (FFVI)" vs. "Vamo' Alla Flamenco (FFIX)"

While Mystery Train is a good song and I really dig the sly reference to the Funeral March, Vamo' Alla Flamenco is just funky. You think I'd hate it for all the Chocobo Hot & Cold I played, but not so. It's just great.

I never ever liked the Phantom Train for any reason. I don't not like it, I just found it completely forgettable.

Vamo alla Flamenco is wonderful, on the other hand. It's latin flair really helps to create a unique piece that was similar to nothing Uematsu had written, which helped it to stand out.

I have returned (I left, yeah, forgot to write it here, sorry, I hope you all coped somehow :D) - and while I was gone, Zanarkand lost to a battle theme, which had me staring at the monitor slack-jawed, but hey, that's life. (And my vote wouldn't have helped any, so there.) But on the plus side, The Oath lost before it, so that makes me feel a bit better. :P

Now here I hope a favourable outcome will.. you know... come out. :)

I have to agree with the consensus here. "Mystery Train" is quirky and fun, but doesn't compare to "Vamo", even if it's arranged version is much better. ;)

Another easy choice that is hard to make... I love Mystery Train to death but Vamo'alla Flamenco is possibly my favorite Final Fantasy theme (besides LF and the like) ever.

Oh, I was saying that "Mystery Train" has a far better arrangement on Grand Finale than "Vamo'..." on 20020220. Some will disagree, but I value GF's originality.

Yay for Vamo' Alla Flamenco!! One of Nobuo's most unique pieces using a style not found very often in vgm.

While I really like Mystery Train, and share the same feelings as Stryfe about 'the sly reference to the Funeral March', I think Vamo' Alla Flamenco is far more original, not only when it comes to Final Fantasy music, but to VGM in general. Vote for Vamo'.
