FFXI's "Airship" is fantastic, I don't even know why I didn't mention it in the Airship thread.

"Overture" is an integral part of the opera sequence that is memorable in its own right. It's overshadowed in terms of praise by the Aria, just like the poor Waltz and Grand Finale, but remains one of Uematsu's most musically profound compositions.

"Airship," on the other hand, is part of a handful of masterpieces Uematsu created for the FFXI OST. The combination of synthesized and acoustic sounds gets me everything time and the melody just glides. Wheeee! It's like flying on pot (not that I promote that sort of thing).

My thoughts, exactly. I really enjoy "Overture," but it can't compare to the majesty of "Airship."

"Overture", though the best part of the opera sequence, the only part I really like in it is the melody that shows up maybe halfway through, with the 4+ 1, 2+ 3, 4+, 1+2+3 . . .rhythm thing going on.

"Airship" is a lot cooler. Majestic, good combination of the electric and acoustic instrumentation, and a lot of flying feeling. In my top 3 FF airship themes.

This is the first time I've ever heard the Airship theme from FFXI, but I think just for the sake of being random, it's going to get my vote :)

This is the first time I've heard Airship as well, but it just wasn't what I expected after hearing everyone praise it. My vote goes to Overture because it's such a great piece that fits its scene very well.

There aren't a lot of themes I know from FF XI - I skipped that game, I really like Square-Enix, but this Internet game-thingy is as close to stealig money as they can get - but I really liked Airship. And sadly, I don't think Overture has that much to offer... At least after hearing the More Friends 2005 complete+vocal version! :D

This was a tough one- I love "Overture" and have always felt that it has been overshadowed by you-know-what. That being said upon listening to "Airship" I was pretty much blown away by the erm... awesomeness of it. However nostalgia won this battle and so my vote was cast with "Overture"

My vote, too, goes to Airship. Even though I haven't played FFXI, I think it's one of the best airship themes of the series. 'Overture' is nice, but I don't believe it can contend with Airship. Since everyone has summed up my thoughts already, I won't go into details. Go Airship! (I'm really curious about the outcome though, since this round is going to last another day:o )
