From one console (Tina) to the other (Fighting), how will today's battle fare? Vote (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/uematsu.php)! Comment, and be merry. :D

"Tina". I love "Fighting", but it's far from being FFVII's best battle theme, and far from being as as memorable, emotional, or anything. "Tina" was the first piece that made me say, "Hey this Uematsu guy is the real deal!" so I have to vote for "Tina" in basically a no contest.

Tina, no question. One of my favourite FF tracks.

Why does everyone think "Tina" is so great? True, it's better than a track like "Fighting" but I've yet to see anyone say anything specific about what makes "Tina" so 'memorable' and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely tune, I just find it given way too much credit for such a short, simple tune that doesn't do anything I would consider unique.

Still, it certainly gets the vote over Fighting

I agree with the above. Tina's something special.

Edit: Everything above the actual above.

Tina all the way!!! This piece has captivated me from the first time I heard it in FFVI. Its melody has a wonderful nostalgic feeling while maintaining an optimistic attitude, with the trumpets in the end giving a somewhat more 'epic' tune. Fighting is a nice battle theme, but I doubt it stands out as much as Tina. Vote.

If I could explain why I like it, I probably wouldn't like it half as much as I do.

I too voted for Tina. It has a happy lilt with the flute as its main melody pusher, however, its backed with a marching style drum accompaniment which really goes well in the game as it serves as the overworld theme. Plus when the Magitek armor is marching into Narshe, it really fits that scene as well.

Funny how the votes are so close, yet everyone here bar one says Tina. Guess the others are fanboys?

At any rate, Tina should definitely win this, it's no contest.

I said that I didn't want a battle theme to win - I can't vote for Tina though. My very first memory of Final Fantasy is this Fighting theme, I really-really liked it, 'tis the best basic battle theme - besides FF X's. :D

"Tina" has a great melody that has allowed it to be the source material for some solid arrangements, though I think its execution in original form is less impressive than "Fighting." "Fighting" is the best FF battle theme, as far as I'm concerned -- with a sense of fun, action, and danger all packed into one very carefully -- and sustains repeated listens extremely well. It's pretty cool musically as well.

Tina is better. I like Fighting only on Piano arrangement. The best battle theme still the one in FF II. :)

Now I wonder when will Dave pair Liberi Fatali and One Winged Angel...

"Tina" for me too. Even though FFVII was my first FF, and I have played FFVI fairly late, so my vote isn't based on nostalgia, because there is none, I think "Tina" is the better theme here.

Same here my friend.

Now I wonder when will Dave pair Liberi Fatali and One Winged Angel...

That won't be happening because both pieces were not considered in this contest because they were arranged by Hamaguchi.

arranged by Hamaguchi. arranged or composed.

I voted for tina but it's losing for some reason fighting isn't one of noubuo's best figthing track ironically.

The Hamaguchi pieces will be appearing in a bonus round, though, so worry not!

It was quite strange as "Tina" had a 5+ lead for a while, but sometimes things just happen like this.

Though the number of votes being twice that of normal is suspicious.

Though the number of votes being twice that of normal is suspicious.

Our visitor numbers surged yesterday -- almost to double normal values. Perhaps the advertising banners had something to do with it.

I don't find it too suspicious, though I'm pleasantly surprised "Tina" has gone.

Why is it that the old pairing has been updated more recently than the new one? ;_;

i smell something fishy here...
:@ :p
hehe

I've checked over the IPs, and some people have voted more than once on some of the themes. The official scores should be:

Fighting (FFVII) 52.31 % (32)
Tina (FFVI) 47.69 % (27)

So, Fighting was always going to win!
