Round 2, Pairing 11: "Freija's Theme (FFIX)" vs. "Shinra Company (FFVII)"

Freya's Theme is yet another one of FFIX's character themes gems. Harpsichord and oboe combine to create an atmosphere perfect for defining the rat people of FFIX.

But Shinra is just out of this world. From the moment I heard it in FVII I was blown away, this theme fits an evil corporation sucking the life out of the planet life a glove. Its simple, yet affective. vote.

I'm going with Freija's Theme, mostly because Shinra Company played for so long in the game was and was annoyingly repetative.

"Freija's Theme" is a very good character theme, but ShinRa is one of my favourite FF pieces ever. It's so well-built and atmospheric.

I voted 'Shinra Company' because it is delightfully and atmospherically evil, and that I adore. :D

I don't much like "ShinRa Company" at all. It's slightly better than the tower incarnation of the theme, but still doesn't grip me at all. It doesn't really go anywhere, and I don't lik the theme that much either.

"Freija's Theme" on the other hand really gives a good sense of its character, and has that wonderful 3 against 2 polyrhythm that is both a very nice musical touch, as well as a good representation of the character's inner struggle. Vote for this bad boy.

No question: only Shinra can win this round. This is one of my favourite themes from FF VII - one of the first themes I really liked from the game from the very beginning. Freya is ok, but not up to par. Go go, Shinra!

Shinra company is one of the worst tracks I've heard. How it even made it into the first round is beyond me.

I'll have to go with Freya's Theme. In this Good versus Evil battle, I believe that the Good deserve to win. Not that's something wrong with Shinra Company, but I like the melancholy in Freya's theme much more than I do the darkness and sinister-ness of Shin-Ra. Vote for Freya.

I was listening to Freya's Theme, and boy did it get boring. I turned it off before it even finished. Shinra all the way here!

"Freija's Theme" has a great melody combined with an awesome development, and "Shinra Company" just has an effective atmosphere. "Freija's Theme" gets my vote here, for the obvious reasons. :lol:
