Well, we've just reached the third pairing. :) Vote here (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/uematsu.php), just as normal. Don't forget to comment, now. :D

I don't even need to listen to Fight 2, I absoluty loved Find Your Way the first time I heard it in FFVIII. Its so mysterious and beautiful.

*prays it goes through*

I had no idea "Find Your Way" was in this contest. I must have missed it last round O_o

I really can't make a solid choice here, they're both wonderful pieces. I'm voting for "Fight II" as it ties the voting, and because of that sexy bass line.

I have to give my vote, yet again, towards FFVIII. "Find Your Way" oozes atmosphere. "Fight 2" is a groovy battle theme and all, but it's not as wonderful as its adversary.

Find your way, all the way!

Ugh... should I even bother voting. Guess I will, though it probably won't do any good.

I HATED... no... LOATHED the dungeon themes from FFVIII (apart from "The Castle"), and "Find Your Way" is certainly no exception. Ambient, sure. But that doesn't make it a winner. It's just so... boring. "Uninspired" comes to mind too.

I vote "Fight 2". I love it to death; when I heard it in SMRPG I thought it was amazing, then later found out it was in FFIV. Amazing battle theme.

"Find Your Way" is good, but I don't think they compare.

I'm voting for 'Fight 2' since it's one of my all-time favorite battle songs. Plus, it moves F2 one vote away from FYW.

Normal Battle and Boss Battle themes of Final Fantasy VIII suck.

I agree on the normal battle theme. Booooooring. Sorry Nobuo, but 10/8 can't save a miserable piece.

Disagree with the boss themes though, I think they're generally ("Premonition" excluded) quite good.

I don't know what that has to do with this thread though, why are you knocking "Find Your Way" on the basis that the game it came from had terrible battle themes?

I voted Find Your Way because its very mysterious and I like that in a dungeon setting. Fight 2 is a great boss battle, but I'll went for an area track this time.

I have to agree with Jared, I don't that FYW can compare to Fight 2. Mystery and atmosphere, yes, But don't just hafta DIG the catchy rythm, the groovy bass line, and the trumpet staccatos? This song puts you in tension right from the start, and then proceeds to a more melodic section, only to bring you back in fighting mood hust before it loops! I just love this song!

By the time I wrote the above, the two have got the same number of votes *gasp* Which one will it be? Which one will it be? OH the agonyyyy...:o

Oh, and, by the way...
DAMN YOU PEOPLE, with your friggin' forum debates an' all, my supposedly short stay at the Internet Cafe turned into a 4-hour plgrimage! It's friggin' 10am here for goodness sake!:ashamed: Well, I can't really blame you... It's really good to see the new site slowly but steadily standing on its feet and it's way better to see the Uematsu Contest continuing! Kudos to everyone for their efforts and hard work! I certainly hope to see great big things from you in the future...

PS: The link to "Love is the Gift" is wrong. It directs you to "lovegift.mp3" instead of "loveisthegift.mp3". Just so to let you know.

Normal Battle and Boss Battle themes of Final Fantasy VIII suck.

What is wrong with Don't Be Afraid? 'Tis one of my personal Uematsu favorites of all time! Boring? Bah! I think it's highly atmospherical! This piece has 'courage' written all over it. But then again, maybe my tastes are too weird. Still, even though I can justify a bit your take on Force Your Way -just a tidbit though- for the love of God, I cannot understand what's wrong with The Man With the Machine Gun. I mean, what the heck? Come to your senses people!

*Erases all the above by mistake and realises he has to write it all again* Oh,man...:grr:

To sum things up: Go! Go! Fight 2!

OK, well I listened to this straight after Jarre's Chronologie 2, so that may colour the opinion - btw, wouldn't that just be the best battle theme? Europe in Concert version...
Anyway.
Ok, Find Your Way, nice atmospherics, but this track always really annoyed me in-game. It's one of those rare things when I can only really say, I just don't like it. Find Your Way to a dull harp ostinato, even if I do like the way the piano and bassoon are used.
Oooh, Fight II. The bassline is indeed sexy. All that octaving...that's style man - and the offbeat fills as well. I like the chromatic dropping and the sequences. Right, that's settled.

EDIT: Man, I love how close this is!

I think he/she thinks "Find Your Way" is "Force Your Way" like I first did when I saw this thread then realized people spoke of atmoshperic stuff. :D

So, I voted for "Fight 2." It has a better melody as far as I'm concerned. *sigh* "Find Your Way" really bored me, although I do respect it as a good composition that is well-structured.
