Sorry about the delay. Yesterday was a record low, by the way, but maybe we just need to get into round two to get things buzzing. There's only one battle left after this one before we get there! Vote here (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/uematsu.php), and make my sad life happier by posting some comments. :)

Urgh... this one was tough.

Fight 2, as mentioned in my bio, was the piece that got me into VGM in the first place... it's a cool, tense, battle track, and one of Uematsu's best.

Black Mage Village, however, takes everything that was cool about Mystic Mysidia, adds a stronger melody, and modernizes it up... it's so gosh darn fun!

Yet, it doesn't beat the nostalgia given by Fight 2... FFIV it is.

Fight 2 - This is a very good battle theme, and it is for FFIV! WOW!

Underground Sewer - Ergh, I really don't like this song at all. It's boring to me.

Genoce - The beginning of this really reminds me of 'Bombing Mission' from FFVII. This is a real suspenseful and powerful track. I liked it.

Black Mage Village - Now this really does sound Black Mage-ish. Er...not really. Although it has a good melody and rhythm, it doesn't get my vote.

So, what does? Surprisngly, Genoce, of Gun Hazard.

"Underground Sewers" - Always liked this bad boy, although I can't say it's ever felt like a sewer theme. Unless someone just happened to drop a quartet of string instruments into the sewer along with a harpsichord. Granted I'd be lying if I said I'd never wanted to throw a musician or two here into the sewers, but still, this piece doesn't really feel like a sewer theme. Still, it has a very nice decadent melody with a very neat staccato rhythm going on and was a very good fit for the mountain it was used on.

"Fight 2" - I loved you when I heard you in Super Mario RPG (which was far before I had played any FF), and I liked you just as much when I heard you in your natural environment. Wonderfully mischevious, yet simultaneously dancable. A track I like a great deal.

"Genoce" - Why don't I like Uematsu hurry pieces? Because they sound like this. There are some good moments, like when the synth sounds like it's falling to pieces, and some of the upper octave noodling is cool, but the piano and organ ostinati are enough to drive a madman to further madness.

"Black Mage Village" - Always liked this one as well. Lots of quirkiness and character, and it always seemed well suited to the black mage village. Still, it doesn't stick like the others do.

It's a close one between "Fight 2" and "Underground. . ." but I'm going with "Fight 2".

Its a hard choice between Sewers and Fight 2, but I think it goes to "Sewers". Its one of the few pieces for a dungeon that I can listen to outside of the game and perfectly enjoy it.

Had to vote for Black Mage Village only because it's one of my favourite tracks from FFIX. It's just such a great track!

Black Mage's Village - "Mystic Mysidia" 2.0. I like it a lot.

Fight 2 - classic battle theme. It flows extremely well, doesn't get old fast, and works perfectly in the game.

Genoce - I agree wholeheartadly with Shroud on this one. Ugh.

Underground Sewers - I think it was Aharon that arranged this piece on SSF way back when for the CTPC. Anyway, it was his arrangement that made me pay more attention to the original, which is pretty cool.

Vote for "Fight 2," but I'd also vote for "Black Mage's Village."

I'm torn between Black Mage's Village and Underground Sewers. Ultimatly, US takes my vote. Although short, it shows off Nobuo's talent for creating complex, yet amazing melodies.

Plus the beginning makes me have to pee, which shows off its ability to manipulate the listener. Winner.

"Genoce" was such a poor track that I'm not too sure why it got nominated. ;__; The melodic stance of the track is far too minimal to be a Uematsu epic, and the lack of structure and/or effective development lets it down.

"Underground Sewers" never really was one of my favourites, but it has an intriguin nonetheless. The instrumentation is cheeky and light-hearted in the developed sections, and elsewhere it is creepy and mystical.

"Fight 2" has an awesome bass line and melody, and is certainly one of my favourite tracks from Final Fantasy IV. Moreso, I love the development. It's great to see that at least one theme from this game will be getting through.

"Black Mages Village," however, is the most captivating of the lot. It has some really catchy percussion, and a melody that I just adore! :) It gets my vote, and hopefully "Fight 2" will get through with it.
