The Landing... Hands. Freaking. Down.
I have so many awesome memories thanks to that tune. It was so very perfect for where it played, and it's an awesome melody to boot.

I liked the Messenger of Ruin and The Landing. However, Messenger has that PSOne-era rock to it, and any song that has guitars in it gets my vote...that is, if it's actually good.

Definately "Messenger of Ruin". When I heard this theme, I actually stopped playing the game to listen to it and nearly died. I love it, its a different style for Uematsu, and he did a good job. Only problem is, the synth could be better but its fine.
"Wedding Waltz" and "The Landing" are good as well, but not quite enough to beat out "Messenger".
Messenger of Ruin - why TBM haven't arranged this one yet baffles me. This is the Uematsu I know and love. Awesome development, great instrumentation, perfect during the game.
The Landing - one of my favourite Uematsu battle themes ever. Yes, it's not exactly a battle theme, but whatever. It's a battle theme. I love every second of it, to the heartbeats up to the part when it loops.
The Salt Flats - I get kind of lost with this piece. The development comes out of nowhere and I don't like it.
Wedding Waltz ~ Duel - like Nick, I hate the transition from waltz to duel. The duel itself is pretty good, but the waltz->duel ruins it.
Vote for "The Landing."

"The Salt Flats" - Absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't strike me as the slightest bit ambiant, and the development seems very logically placed to me. It's gorgeous both melodically and harmonically. And for an FFVIII tune, the synth is awesome.
"The Landing" - It's wonderful, although it feels too much like stock film music for me.
"Messenger of Ruin" - I think I'm the only person who prefers FFIX's "Final Battle" to this piece. It has moments that feel just too much like a Queen song for me (and not a good one like "Killer Queen" or "Bo Ra"), and its quiet parts aren't as effective as those in "The Extreme". Not high up on my list.
"Wedding Waltz ~ Duel" - Not good, not great; the duel is certainly the best part of the track, the transition is awful, and the waltz is nohting special.
Vote "The Salt Flats".
The update's going to be a little later than usual tonight, but not much later. Sorry for the inconvenience. I voted for the "Messenger of Ruin" since it seems to the best theme to hear when you are half asleep!
The results:
Messenger of Ruin (FFIX) 56.52 % (13)
The Landing (FFVIII) 30.43 % (7)
The Salt Flats (FFVIII) 8.70 % (2)
Wedding Waltz ~ Duel (FFVI) 4.35 % (1)
