View Full Version : Round 1, Battle 25 Discussion (July 10/11, 2006)
Well, welcome to the return of the contest! I'm sorry that it took so long to get this back up and running again, but there were quite a few set backs along the way. If there is ever a time when I forget to post a new battle, don't fret, as it will be most likely due to my computer breaking or my parents planning an unexpected excursion. Hopefully everything should run smoothly from now on though!
So, we are now at the 25th battle, and 4 more themes are battling it out against each other here (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/uematsu.php)! Happy voting, post your opinions here, and thanks for sticking around! :)
It would be great if you guys could spread the word around a little, since very few people actually know about the site. Hopefully th econtest will spawn some popularity. Thanks a lot!

When I first opened up Dali and Magician's Tower, they came up as 0:24 and 0:25 long. I thought, "That can't be right," so I went back and redownloaded them. Sure enough, they didn't fully download the first time.
I heard Dancing Mad first. After listening to it, I was for sure that nothing could surpass it. I was right. Nothing of the rest of themes stood out to me. So, I vote for Dancing Mad. However, if I had to pick an order...
1) Dancing Mad
2) Magician's Tower
3) Frontier Village Dali
4) The Land Unknown
Dancing Mad all the way. The track is simply so complex, so rich, and so... fun, that it blows the other tracks right out of the water. Always been once of my favourite final boss themes :)

What is this again?
Check in here (http://www.squareenixmusic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51). I've prepared for questions like this in advance. :)

Oh! this! I remember I wanted to participate in it so badly, I had my complete list and then we never did it. I had some true keepers.

"Magician's Tower" actually got in? Wow. Vote. I don't even have to think. It won't win, it won't even make it to the next round, but I've got its back.
I'm one of the few "Dancing Mad" haters you'll find throughout the world. I can only enjoy one certain section of the track, and I don't find the 17+ minutes attractive to listen to repeatadly.
"Dali" is pretty nice to relax to, and it's pretty, but I don't find it all that interesting, to be honest.
"The Land Unknown" is pretty cool. It would be my 2nd choice. I don't remember it from the FFV OST, which is a shame, because I like it a lot.

"Dancing Mad" is not even a question for me, and this is a round mostly filled with tracks I enjoy. "Frontier Village Dali" is a really pleasant village theme, and one of those things that just really feels like a part of its environment. "Magician's Tower" is a dungeon theme with a great deal of character and energy, although I do feel it loops too quickly. "The Lands Unknown" is another case of a pretty neat melody coming out of an awful game, managing to be atmospheric without sacrificing melody.
Still, "Dancing Mad" is far and away my choice, and if it were only the fourth part alone, I'd still give it my vote. I loooove that bass line, and the organ slamming atop it as the drums fly all over the place, and the guitar does that wonderful laugh emulation. It's one of my favourite tracks without doubt. The other three themes are pretty special as well, the first tier probably being my favourite of the other three as it has more of a build and seems like it would make great concert material if expanded. "Dancing Mad" whooo, go team.

Dancing Mad will obviously win, however I just can't vote for it. I'm with Totz. I'm voting for Magician's Tower in hopes of it making the next round. Its fast, fun, and worth my vote among the others.

I loved Magician's Tower, Totz, but I thought it was too short. That's why Dancing Mad got my vote.

I agree, some of the tiers of Dancing Mad are pretty painful to listen to, but overall the tune is much better than the others. Dali is pretty good, as it gives the right image even outside of the game, still... gotta go with Dancing Mad here... the beginning and end have so much energy, it more than makes up for the mediocre stuff sandwhiched between them.
Remember, guys, it's actually the top two themes that go through! :) So, "Magicians Tower" will be going through to round two if the votes stay the same. :D

I'm being honest, Final Fantasy 123 was the time when Uematsu at his finest. This is the period where I could compare him to Koichi Sugiyama. I voted obviously for Magician Tower!

Just a friendly reminder: not voting for "Magician's Tower" = instant bannination.
Thank you for your time.

Woot! Totz, things are looking good. :)
"Dancing Mad" seems to be a favourite of many, but I have to say that I found it inconsistent. Naturally, it is the best of the four there, but being an old-school fanatic, my vote actually went to "Magician's Tower." This was the only theme that truly pleased me. :)
Dancing Mad (FFVI) 80.95 % (68)
Magician's Tower (FFII PSX) 13.10 % (11)
Frontier Village Dali (FFIX) 4.76 % (4)
The Land Unknown (FFV) 1.19 % (1)
"Dancing Mad" and "Magician's Tower" both go through!
