Round 4, Pairing 7: "Ending Theme (FFVI)" vs. "Terra (FFIX)"

Big apologies for the delay in putting up the next pairing. A nasty combination of FTP problems, lost passwords, and crappy connections was responsible. BUT we're back. :)

Today, we'll find out the answer to one ultimate question: Is Terra better in the form of an FFVI character medley or as an FFIX setting theme? Only you can decide.

We're finally back, but yet another painful decision again. If I had to judge based on the the character melody of Terra in FFVI and not the entire composition of the FFVI ending to FFIX's Terra I give my vote to the latter. It is one of the overlooked themes in Final Fantasy IX, leaving you in a dreamy state, very impressionistic. When placed on the scene of the genomes having soulless bodies lives being desecrated only for the use of Garland it drives the melancholy of the whole scene. Terra in FFVI has an overworld theme, which is quite exceptional-majestic and bold, but the character melody doesn’t hold me over as much in comparison. Therefore, from an honest assessment for the ultimate question, the setting theme of FFIX gets my vote as the dark horse. But it cannot beat FFVI’s ending composition as a whole. What to do???? What are we really judging whole composition or just character melody? I don’t want to vote yet, until I understand what we should base our vote on.

I like both tracks, but I'm going to have to go with the Ending Theme this time.

I like "Terra" on an emotional and melodic level, but I find "Ending Theme" much more impressive overall. A massive and impeccable 20 minute achievement, as far as I'm concerned.

Terra, from IX is still one of my favourites. But I guess the other theme will win. ;) But maybe a miracle... :D

I voted for terra. only because i feel ending theme wasn't really an ending theme just a combonation off most of the songs in the game so far.

Vote Ending Theme. As much as I usually don't like medleys, this one is ok by me.

I don't really like either, but "Terra" is nice and relaxing, and subtle on the emotions. "Ending Theme" is better, but I simply can't listen to it outside of the game.
