Well, I personally never appreciated Aerith's floweryness. It really isn't even worth one gil (I'm so clever). So, in light of this, and the fact that I voted for Matoya last time, it gets more love from me.

Matoya has a great melody, definatly ranks up there in my favorites. So I'm giving it my vote over Aerith.

I voted for Matoya too. :) I'm sickened by Aerith's Theme now, since it really does just seem to be a fan boy theme. Matoya, however, is a true classic.

Right now, I'm kinda preferring Matoya, but I'd like to hear Aerith's Theme again before I vote against a classic. Unfortunately, the link to Aerith's Theme stills leads to Cid's Theme. If you could fix that Dave, it would make me very happy. . . . thanks.

Totally agreed. Were the theme to have received popular response on the level of, say, "Ami" (FFVIII) or "Rose of May" (FFIX), it'd always be regarded as a sentimental classic, but the ravaging fanboy acclaim towards it (only exacerbated by PLAY! etc.) has engulfed it into the depths of overratedness. 'Tis a pity as it isn't bad at all, but I've heard it far too many times to want to ever hear it again.

As for Matoya's Cave, I think one word sums it up: Cute. And, for that, it must go on. It's instantly lovable thanks to its melodies and the buoyant accompaniment is decent too.

I like Aerith's Theme, and couldn't care less whether it's overrated or not. However, I like Matoy's Cave more and give it my vote.

Even though Aerith's theme has been totally destroyed by so many bad arrangements, I still like the original theme. So, I can't go against it. *votes*

Aerith's theme being ousted by Matoya's theme is definitely a shocker for me, I'd thought it survive up to the finals since it was given so many arrangements. Anyway, sorry to see you go Aerith's.

I think I popped in and dropped a vote for Matoya yesterday at work. I'm glad to see it win, since I was never big on Uematsu's "emotional" themes (I was actually surprised how highly regarded Aeris' Theme was by fans of FFVII...I think it's one of the weakest tracks on the FFVII OST). Matoya showcases his strong melodic side much better and has stood the test of time much better. It was one of the first tracks I ever thought, "Wow, this is something I'd love to listen to outside of the game." Back in 1990 or so (and me being 9 or 10), that was really something.
