Brief Profile
After a composing and sound design role at Jaleco, Ryo Yamazaki became a synthesizer operator at Square Enix. He initially programmed the music for Legend of Mana and Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2 and created three compositions for Racing Lagoon. He then came to fame by implementing Yasunori Mitsuda's Chrono Cross score and adopting a realistic guitar-based sound.
Yamazaki has mainly become eminent as a result of his collaborations with composer Masashi Hamauzu. They first worked together on SaGa Frontier II and gained mutual admiration for each other's talents. They subsequently joined forces on Unlimited SaGa, Musashiden II, and Dirge of Cerberus. In each project, Yamazaki made unprecedented technical advances and won considerable praise from gamers.
Yamazaki has also implemented the scores for Kingdom Hearts and Front Mission 4, but was too busy with other projects to return to their sequels. He has also made a few compositions for the Front Mission series, Dirge of Cerberus, and the Square Enix Music Official Bootlegs. His current works are unknown as he surprisingly hasn't returned to work with Hamauzu on Sigma Harmonics and Final Fantasy XIII.
