Brief Profile
Having become passionate about creating music while studying a Law and Economics degree, Mizuta decided to become a professional composer after graduating. As a trainee at Capcom, Mizuta created additional music for the Street Fighter Alpha series and a jazz score for Rockman & Forte. Interested by his non-composing role on Resident Evil 2, Square employed him in 1998 to produce an ambient survival horror score for Parasite Eve II.
Mizuta subsequently defined the sounds of Vana'diel by composing the majority of the music of the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. He used a wide instrumental palette and an ostinato-based format to create various setting, battle, and march themes that were well-received in the context of the game. He was also solely responsible for the music of the franchise's four extensions and miscellaneous updates as well as additional music for PlayOnline's menus and Tetra Master.
With The Star Onions, Mizuta has arranged and performed Final Fantasy XI music for numerous concerts and two albums. Under Mizuta's direction, the discography of Final Fantasy XI has also grown with the releases of a commemorative box set and piano albums. Away from the franchise, Mizuta has had minor roles on Hanjuku Hero 4 and The Shochu Bar. He has been confirmed as the composer for the militaristic score to Blood of Bahamut.
